We presented Teresa Eickel and Brian Cheney at the DunnCenter for the Performing Arts on March 30, 2012. We started the evening with an art opening and reception and moved into the auditorium for an evening of Broadway and Opera favorites. The audience fell in love with the duo and their voices were stunning, to say the least. As apresenter, it was a wonderful way to present Opera to many people who thought they would go to sleep and instead, discovered that they not only loved the music, but wanted more! “All the Good Stuff” is a winner!

On November 6, 2011, ArtsLink had the pleasure of presenting soprano Teresa Eickel as part of our 2011-12 Concert Series. Her performance consisted of both opera selections and popular show tunes. Our audience especially enjoyed her interpretation of” Un bel dí vedremo” from Madama Butterfly. Her performance was so vivacious that the audience could easily identify with the character. Her superb voice never faltered, even on the highest notes. It’s amazing that such force comes from such a petite individual.
In addition to the public matinee performance, Ms. Eickel conducted a master class for the choir at TylerConsolidatedHigh School. Both the choir director and the students were totally engaged. ArtsLink provides a feedback form at all performances, encouraging comments. Included for Teresa’s performance were, “Excellent”, “Brava!”, “We want MORE”. All of the respondents liked the performance and would welcome more of the same. It is our hope to sponsor a concert by Teresa again in the future.

In 2010, I hired Teresa Eickel to present her program “All the Good Stuff” with tenor Brian Cheney. The evening of musical theater and opera was outstanding, featuring wide range of repertoire interspersed with a commentary that was by turn both witty and touching. Her concert was so well received that I brought her back in May 2012 to perform “Bury My Heart”, a concert of art song and American poetry with actor Ryan Stadler.
Ms. Eickel’s voice is lush and expressive, with a technique that allows her to access the full range of her voice. She is a spectacular performer who moves effortlessly from musical theatre comedy to heart-wrenching songs of loss and love. In “All the Good Stuff”, she interspersed the classics of musical theatre and opera with stories about the operas and funny, personal anecdotes. The audience was delighted! “Bury My Heart” was an even more thought- provoking program. The audience was riveted as she and actor Ryan Stadler explored the struggle and sacrifice of a soldier torn between the love of country and love of family. It was, in a word, stunning.
It has been a pleasure to have Teresa Eickel perform in our Concert Series and I recommend her for her outstanding musicianship, artistry and professionalism. Your audiences will not be disappointed!
